Angelina Jolie on the cover of Vanity Fair

Angelina Jolie
graces the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair.

She looks like her old volomptuous self...as she should! Angelina and Brad Pitt are expecting to give birth to twins in France very soon. Pregnancy has really done wonders for Angelina... hopefully she won't go back to her scarily thin phase after her pregnancy!

For all you Gossip Girl fans...

Rumours have been spreading that a link to the personal photobucket account of Ed Westwick (a.k.a Chuck Bass) and Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald) has leaked.

The link shows several private photos of the two Gossip Girl hotties, including photos of Chace when he was younger.

The maker of this account has just put up a notice saying that he/she is NOT Ed or Chace, and is just a fan who decided to share these photos.

They're still very pleasing to the eye, so check them out here!

Christian Lou, how I love you.

Cobbler, Cobbler, mend my shoes
Careful please, they're Christian Lous.
Those red soles, they'll never date,
They'll still be hot in spring '08.
- "This Little Piggy Went to Prada," Amy Allen

Just like every Carrie Bradshaw fan, I have a love for designer shoes. However, with my budget, I am forced to buy less expensive knock-offs of my favourite styles. I have developed a love for cheap shoes as well, but whenever I visit Saks or Neiman Marcus online, I mourn the fact that I cannot buy the beautifully creations.

I have decided that when I am fashion editor, my first big purchase will be a pair of Christian Louboutins. My mother helped me to recognize the iconic red soles at a very young age, and ever since then, I have always dreamed of owning a pair. The shape of the shoe is so expertly crafted, and his designs are always so classy, but unique.

This particular pair combines the fabulous red soles with a large satin bow (another one of my obsessions).

But with its $795 price tag, I guess I'll need to be saving up if I can ever own this pair!

Confession # 1

I have a problem.

A shopping problem to be exact.

I am a true shopaholic.

I knew I had a problem a few years ago, and my mother would often be on my back for spending money, but then I realized she was the one who would take me shopping, pick out something in the store saying, "Madelyn, that would look amazing on you!", and then have me try it out. Of course, she was right, and after falling in love with how wonderful the clothing looked, I had to buy it. I came to the conclusion that she shops vicariously through me.

But now, since I go to school right beside the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto, my spending habits got exponentially worse.

I go through these phases where I get inspired by either magazine spreads, photographs of street style, etc., and feel that I need to buy a particular item in order to survive. Such items have included the lame legging at American Apparel, pashmina scarves, motorcycle jackets, cardigans, cardigans, and more cardigans, lingerie, plain white t-shirts, and the list goes on.

My latest must-have item was the floral dress shown below. I first saw the dress in March while in Montreal, and immediately grabbed it off the racks upon seeing it. I tried it on, and it was divine -- the perfect summer dress. But with the $100 price tag, I decided not to buy it.

I immediately regretted my decision, and decided to buy in Toronto, but alas, it was nowhere to be found. I was forced to just admire its advertisement.

Then fate struck on May 7th, and I found the dress in Yorkdale. I tried it on, and fell in love all over again. However, another look at the price tag made me drop the dress once more.

Before leaving the mall, I decided to buy it. I had been wanting it for so long, and it would fill the void I was feeling. But after leaving the store, I experienced severe buyer's remorse. At that point, my boyfriend thought I was crazy.

After 18 days of letting the dress sit in its shopping bag, I pulled it out today. The weather is beautiful, and I'm in no mood to wear my winter clothes anymore. Ever since I showed my mom the dress, she wanted me to return it, so she was not happy, to say the least. But, I didn't really care. Although it's very sheer (she wouldn't let me leave the house unless I wore a tank and boy shorts underneath), it is that perfect floral dress that I have been looking for.

And alas, that concludes the story of one of my shopaholic adventures.

Living Lohan

When one Lohan's career fails...there's always another one to take up the spotlight.

As Lindsay Lohan is spending her time designing a line of leggings and canoodling with rumoured girlfriend Samantha Ronson, her younger sister, Aliana Lohan, 14, is desperately trying to follow in her sister's footsteps of being in the limelight.

To document her rise to stardom, Ali, and her mother, Dina Lohan, will star in a new E! reality show called Living Lohan. The show is based on Ali recording a solo album, under her mother's management.

But the show, according to Ali, isn't so much for exposure, but to "set the record straight" that they are not a "crazy family."

When I first heard about this show, I wasn't interested at all in following, but after seeing a few previews, I must say, I'm curious to get an inside look at the family of the girl who's been to rehab three times in 2007...and to see what will happen to the next Lohan girl.

Check out Ali's interview with David Letterman below...I can't believe she's only 14...I'm sure that she will be following in her sister's footsteps by partying hard in the near future.

Mario - Crying Out for Me (Remix feat. Lil Wayne)

Mario has come up with a remix featuring Lil Wayne for his latest single, "Crying out For Me." It's a bit strange at first, but it started to grow on me after a few times, and has some pretty good rhymes.

Thanks to Ryan Tan for sharing!

Scarlett Johansson nixed from Reebok

Rumour has it that Scarlett Johansson will no longer be involved with sports-brand Reebok.

The brand is said to be looking for more celebrity endorsements, however.

The first time I saw Scarlett's Reebok ads was in my sociology class, while discussing gender roles in the media.

Tennis pro Andre Agassi had a fierce, action shot on the cover on Sports Illustrated, whereas Anna Kournikova played the role of a sex symbol, instead of a female tennis star.

Similarly, Reebok's ads for menswear show men taking part in sports, whereas Scarlett's ads had much more to do with fashion.

There's nothing wrong with making sportswear fashionable, but I'm hoping that in the future, Reebok will choose more athletic celebrities.

Who do you think should be in Reebok's new ads?

my latest fashion obsession...

THE HAREM PANT!
a.k.a dhoti pant

This pant has been featured in almost every fashion magazine. It's been deemed a "must-have," but several are skeptical about wearing them.

Being a fashionista, I am aching to try this trend. I spotted a pair back in November in Zara's trf section, but to my dismay, they weren't exactly flattering. I blame the fabric, and the fact that they didn't have this cute little bow like this pair from Topshop.

After hearing about the supposedly fabulous pair at H&M, I finally found them in-store. However, I was extremely disappointed with the cut of the pants. They were too wide in the wrong places, and as they were high-waisted, it looked like the pants were about to swallow me whole.

So...my search continues. I'm hoping to find them in black, so I can pair them with cute pumps, and a form-fitting tank, and perhaps a blazer on top. Or, the look I tried at H&M..a plain white t-shirt tucked into the pants.

Wish me luck! :)

American Idol - Season 7 Results

It was the battle of the Davids this week for American Idol Season 7.

David Archuleta, the cute, 17-year-old from Murray, UT, was a fan favourite since day one. He won us over with his brilliant vocals, and especially with his memorable performance of "Imagine."

David Cook, the 25-year-old rocker from Blue Springs, MO was undoubtedly one of the biggest risk-takers ever to appear on the show. His genius renditions of "Billie Jean" and "Always be my Baby," to name a few, proved to America that he was not only a musician, but a true artist.

My bets were on Archuleta, based on the large fan base he seemed to have...but the winner by a shocking 12 million votes was David Cook.

The finale was filled with the famous faces of Hollywood, as well as Idol alumni.

Paula Abdul looked stunning in a bright red gown, Simon Cowell was dressed in the same white shirt and black blazer as the night before, and Randy Jackson had some strange red and white blazer going on, that I'm sure, if worn by any of the contestants, would have been harshly criticized by Simon.

There were notable performances by Carrie Underwood, who looked stunning in a white blazer worn as a dress, Jordin Sparks, who looked not as stunning with an unflattering gold dress, the Jonas Brothers, cute and stylish as always, George Michael wearing his sunglasses at night...and inside!, and Bryan Adams, to name a few.

As always, the contestants had the opportunity to perform with their own idols. Cook chose ZZ Top, a band that I had no idea existed, and whose lead singer reminded me of Cousin IT from The Adams Family. Archuleta chose OneRepublic, and joined Ryan Tedder in singing "Apologize." Archuleta arguably sang better than Tedder.

Overall, a fairly good finale!
Below is the OneRepublic/Archuleta performance.

Dancing With the Stars - Season 6

Last Tuesday was the finale of Dancing With the Stars Season 6.

The winner? Kristi Yamaguchi, of course.

Personally, I have been rooting for Kristi ever since I heard she would be on the show. She was my idol when I was younger (back in my figure-skating days), to the point where I wanted to change my middle name to Kristi. When I heard that she would be paired with Mark Ballas, one of the most talented professionals on the show, I was even more ecstatic.

The finale was jam-packed with performances from all the finalists, as well as two performances from Usher.

Usher brought along his own dancers for his first performance, "Love in This Club."
Later on in the show, he wow-ed the audience with his new, jazzy rendition of "Yeah." Some of the professionals on the show (and also Artem Chigvinsev, contestant on So You Think You Can Dance Season 1, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba's boyfriend) performed with Usher and his dancers.

Although the performance was a show-stopper, the pre-taping did not go as seamless as it appeared. Usher was said to have "diva" behaviour, taking long breaks to get a drink, and causing the cast and crew of the show to scramble to get ready for the live show.

Nonetheless, this performance was one of Usher's best. He looked fresh and sleek in his white suit, with a black shirt, tie, and gloves. Usher not only pulled out his signature dance moves, and some tap dancing skills, but he also tried his hand at ballroom dancing with Karina Smirnoff (a professional on the show, and also Mario Lopez's girlfriend). It made me wonder..will Usher one day be competing on Dancing With the Stars?

Check out his performance below!
