Paris Fashion Week: Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 RTW

There are no words to describe the magnificence of Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 ready-to-wear runway show.

McQueen streamed the show live online, but with the high volume of people trying to tune in, not everyone was able to access the site, myself included. To top it all off, thirty minutes before the show, Lady Gaga tweeted that her new single, "Bad Romance" would be premiered by McQueen. This was quite possibly another reason why the server crashed.

Clearly, McQueen pulled out all the stops to impress. It was a big budget production, with large robotic cameras capturing every moment for the live stream. In the background, a screen played a video of Raquel Zimmermann lying on sand, naked, with snakes crawling all over her body.

The models resembled a hybrid of an alien and a sea monster. McQueen's logic was revealed in a press release: "Humankind is made up of creatures that evolved from the sea, and we may be heading back to an underwater future as the ice cap dissolves."

Wild animal and reptile printed dresses were adorned with ruffles, and peaked shoulders. Extravagant hairstyles along with the added prosthetics to the cheekbones added to the effect that the models were out of this world. And finally, the 10-inch booties that came in several different designs and colours caused such a stir that almost every fashion blog has been raving about them.

Check out the brilliance below.
