Paris Fashion Week: Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2010 RTW

Jean Paul Gaultier is not one to shy away from the "underwear as outwear" look that designers have been adopting again, thanks to Lady Gaga. He did, after all, popularize the look when Madonna wore his famous cone-bra corset during her Blonde Ambition tour in the 90s.

For his Spring 2010 ready-to-wear show, Gaultier opened with denim overalls, a far cry from the croc version circa fall 2009 couture, though he did make sure to include a reference later on in the show. After the denim came more grungier, army garb, with lace-up combat boots, army green mesh pieces and matching military caps.

Gaultier incorporated the cone-bra into these looks, which led nicely into the lingerie: corsets, garters, and plenty of high-waisted panties. The most notable piece was probably the "pregnant woman corset," modelled by the actually pregnant Jordan Dunn.

Big-named atendees included Rihanna, Katy Perry, Dita von Teese and Janet Jackson.
