Nicholas Sparks writing for Miley Cyrus?

Here's a little break from all the fashion-filled posts:

Nicholas Sparks, author of several great romance novels that turned into box office hits (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle...), wants to write a screenplay for Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus.

Sparks will simultaneously write the novel for which the film will be based on.

The project came about after Disney executive Jason Reed met with Miley, who wants to slowly broaden her image, and merge towards pleasing an adult audience, much like how Mandy Moore transformed her pop image in A Walk to Remember. Miley mentioned the popular film as an example of what she hoped for.

The author then approached the Cyrus family with a plot idea, and they were intrigued. As a result, Miley's mom, Tish Cyrus, will be the executive producer. Much like Miley's life, the plot will revolve around romance and family.

Sparks is emphasizing that writing a novel that will please his readers is his first priority, and the screenplay comes second to that.

"This is similar to the way it’s gone with movies based on my novels; it’s just out of order," Sparks said. "Certain opportunities garner your interest, and this was one of those."

The author also added that Miley and her family "were very familiar with the work I’ve done in the past. That played a role in this project coming together."

The book will be published next fall by Grand Central Publishing.
