Giles Deacon named new Creative Director at Emanuel Ungaro

Emanuel Ungaro confirmed today that British designer Giles Deacon will be its new creative director.

Deacon, who has been showing his own line in Paris for two seasons, will be replcaing Estrella Archs, the chief designer hired to work beside former artistic advisor, Lindsay Lohan.

The French fashion house has seen its fair share of designers since the retirement of its founder in 2004. However, Deacon feels confident about his new position.

“Yes, I’m totally aware and respectful of the pressure but at the same time, I’ve run my own business for eight years and worked in lots of places,” the 4o-year-old designer told WWD. “I think as soon as you start worrying and thinking about that too much, you’re not concentrating on doing good work, which is the most important thing."

Deacon will show his first collection in a presentation during Paris Fashion Week in October, and will most likely stay away from the runway for the first two seasons to get himself "into the spirit of the house."

He plans on incorporating his love for prints into Ungaro's collection.

“I obviously don’t want to infringe upon my own line, but I like things that are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design I’m going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman,” he said.


Deacon will continue to produce his own line, as well as working with British high street retailer, New Look.

Hopefully this will be the turning point for a more successful Ungaro!

Alexander McQueen sues Steve Madden

When I went to London, I discovered the Alexander McQueen Faithful bootie, an open-toed ankle boot inspired by the motorcycle jacket (see my personal photos above).

But with its $1,155 price tag, I knew that once I finished trying it on, it would be the last time I would ever be sporting it.

Then Steve Madden came out with its own version, called the Seryna bootie. Almost a direct knockoff of McQueen's design, the only difference was the zipper pull that contains the Alexander McQueen trademark skull. At a fraction of the price, it seemed like the perfect alternative.

Now, McQueen is suing Steve Madden Ltd., alleging that the Madden model is a "studied imitation" of the Faithful version.

Supposedly, McQueen's attorneys sent a "cease and desist" letter to the Madden company in September, which refused to comply.

The suit says McQueen’s shoe has earned distinction in part through “widespread media attention” and has been photographed on the feet of Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen and Rihanna.

So will this be the end of Madden's imitation? And if not, will he try to remake this McQueen shoe?

Lindsay Lohan to be a creative consultant for Emanuel Ungaro?

News broke yesterday that Lindsay Lohan is on her way to becoming the creative consultant for Emanuel Ungaro.

However, the current head of Ungaro, Esteban Cortazar, is apparently not too happy about it.

"Esteban is threatening to leave the company if they bring Lindsay on as a consultant," said a fashion insider. "It has been a revolving door of designers there and if he leaves, his team will go with him."

According to a source, "Ungaro thinks Lindsay is going to bring the company new energy and new buzz, but she is going to be the nail in the coffin. Nobody will take them seriously ever again."

Well if all else fails, at least she still has her $132 leggings to sell!

Lindsay's 6126 collection launches online

Operation "get my career back into shape" is in action for Lindsay Lohan.

The website for the actress/singer/entrepreneur/frequent tabloid target's 6126 leggings collection has finally launched.

The line is inspired by Lohan's icon, Marilyn Monroe (the above "Crystal" style is described as "glittering enough to wear for a 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' performance…) and Lohan's love for leggings.

The various styles range from $60-$132.

But in all honesty, would you really buy a pair of $132 leggings from Lindsay Lohan?

Lindsay's eHarmony spoof

Although Lindsay Lohan is a mess, you've got to give her credit for poking fun of herself after her very public breakup with Samantha Ronson in order to promote her Sevin Nyne spray-on self-tanner and her line of leggings, 6126.

Around the 58 second mark, Lohan sprays the self-tanner in the air. She also says her eHarmony ID is 612679, which is a combination of the names of her leggings line and spray-tan line.

Alicia Keys plays Michelle Obama

...and she does a much better job than Tyra!

As part of Glamour magazine's "American Icons" feature, the 28 year-old singer portrays First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Dressed in a blue dress, with two young girls, and of course, a puppy by her side, Alicia Keys embodies the First Lady's best traits, looking poised, elegant, and chic.

“She has worked hard for everything she’s accomplished, and done so with grace and humility. So many women and girls can identify with her story,” Keys told the magazine.

Other female celebrities taking part in this feature include Hayden Panettiere as Amelia Earhart, Emma Roberts as Audrey Hepburn, and Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert as Brandi Chastain. Lindsay Lohan is also photographed as Madonna and America Ferrera as Dolores Huerta.

After coming out as a lesbian on the radio show, Loveline, Lindsay Lohan is taking it back. Well, at least her publicist is trying to.

"There was no confession," said her publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik to TVGuide.com. She deemed the two as very close friends, not a couple.

I was a little bit shocked when Lindsay came out, I really think this is just a ploy to keep the attention on her.

We'll see what happens later on down the road!
