Joe Corre quits Agent Provocateur
Joseph Corre has quit Agent Provocateur, the lingerie label he founded 15 years ago with his then-wife Serena Rees.
WWD reported this morning that Corre, son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren had left the business last week.
"Over the past few months Joe has been focusing on other projects and I think he just felt - having achieved so much with Agent Provocateur - he wanted to move on to new challenges," Garry Hogarth, the chief executive officer of AP told VOGUE.COM this afternoon. "The business is going well; we are four per cent up on last year and we have a very strong design team, so we are very confident about the future. We won't be looking to replace Joe."
Corre will remain a shareholder of the brand but will have no creative input. He will concentrate on his menswear label, A Child of the Jago, and other projects. Sarah Shotton, AP's head creative designer, will continue to oversee the collections.
AP has also has signed a license with British company BJB to produce a jewelry line, which will launch for the holiday season (some is already available online), and is close to signing a new fragrance license. The firm is also negotiating licenses for bedding, vintage-style sunglasses and umbrellas.
It'll be interesting to see how the brand copes without Corre.

Carrie's dress goes mainstream

Image via fashionista.com
We all remember Carrie Bradshaw's Vivienne Westwood wedding gown in Sex and the City: The Movie. The dress was so popular it cost some die-hard SATC fans 30,000 pounds to have the dress made-to-order.
Now, the dress has been re-scaled for the "average" customer into a shorter, more ready-to-wear version through Vivienne's Gold Label. It's going for a cool $9, 875 on Net-a-Porter, and seeing as it's already sold out just proves that SATC fans will do whatever they can to look like Carrie, even in a recession.

Paris Fashion Week Spring '09: Sonia Rykiel
Sonia Rykiel's show on Wednesday night was a fun and celebration. The dinner and show party was a tribute to her 40 years as a distinctively Parisienne designer, and her clothing was a representation of her recognizable style.
The collection was true to Parisian wear, with plenty of sequined berets, poufy skirts, ruffled dresses, hints of Moulin Rouge, and of course, lots of black and white.
After her collection was unveiled, Sonia's daughter Nathalie announced, "A birthday without a surprise isn't a birthday. You've been inspiring the world of fashion for 40 years; here's your present. Bon anniversaire, Maman."
Thirty more models came out in Sonia Rykiel looks designed by some of the biggest names in fashion, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Michael Kors, Diane von Furtsenberg, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Vivienne Westwood.
