ANTM's new winner will receive an Italian Vogue cover
Tyra Banks is stepping up her game!
On the next season of America's Next Top Model, the winner will not be gracing the cover of Seventeen magazine, but rather Vogue Italia, along with receiving two fashion spreads.
This is a big jump for the show.
Banks called the partnership "my second coup in the high-fashion makeover of 'Top Model' which I talked about earlier this year with André Leon Talley joining the judging panel."
The former supermodel explained how the partnership came to be in this statement:
"I was so excited when Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Italian Vogue, reached out to me at the end of last year to be a permanent contributor on the recently launched vogue.it (Italian Vogue’s new website) - I was (and AM!) so honored and excited to be working so closely with such an iconic brand. Franca and I really hit it off; we really connected on a personal level, but even more so as we exchanged visions for the future of our brands. I knew instantly that we were destined to partner together in another BIG way; I even told Franca I’d be in touch as soon as I figured out what that was - OH, and I wasn’t kidding. Here’s ANTM with an Italian Vogue cover, and not one, but TWO in-book fashion spreads for our winner."
It's a smart move on Tyra's part, seeing how there have already been fourteen seasons of ANTM, and she risks losing viewers. Clearly André Leon Talley had a big part in this collaboration, but it'll be interesting to see how casting goes for the fifteenth season of Top Model, because really, if a trashy, dramatic, uneducated, gossiping girl gets a Vogue cover, it will be pretty disappointing.
What do you think of this new partnership? Bad move on Vogue Italia's part, or good in terms of publicity?

Sex and the City 2: UK Premiere
The fabulous women of Sex and the City hit up the London premiere of Sex and the City 2 in Leicester Square today.
Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a black voluminous Alexander McQueen gown, complete with an eccentric headpiece à Isabella Blow. The actress also wore a black armband to pay tribute to the late designer.
Kim Cattrall went for a more demure, Old-Hollywood look, compared to her golden Naeem Khan at the New York premiere, wearing a black Thierry Mugler frock.
But perhaps this was because Kristin Davis wanted to shine, in her gold Norman Norell dress.
Cynthia Nixon opted for a more simple dress than her co-stars by Narciso Rodriguez.

Sarah Burton named Creative Director at Alexander McQueen
It has been announced that Sarah Burton, the late Alexander McQueen's second in command, will be the brand's new creative director.
"We are delighted that Sarah has agreed to take on the role of creative director," said Jonathan Akeroyd, president and ceo of Alexander McQueen. "Having worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years, she has a deep understanding of his vision, which will allow the company to stay true to its core values."
Burton, who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 1997, worked with McQueen for 16 years. She joined the brand in 1996 and has worked as head of womenswear design since 2000. She has also been credited with completing the designer's autumn/winter 2010-2011 collection following McQueen's suicide in February.
"The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee's vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy," commented Burton on the announcement.
The Gucci Group did not say when Burton's collection will debut.
I'm glad to see that they're keeping it within the McQueen family, and not bringing in an outsider.
All that's left to do is wait, and hope that McQueen's legacy will continue.

Gaultier leaves Hermès
After seven years, Jean Paul Gaultier will be leaving French luxury brand, Hermès.
"Hermès is deeply grateful to Jean Paul Gaultier for his outstanding creative contribution during these seven years," the company told WWD.
The house has named Christopher Lemaire, currently the creative director of Lacoste, as his successor. It is unlikely that Lemaire will continue at Lacoste.
Lemaire will take over once Gaultier shows his spring/summer 2011 collection in October.
It is likely that Gaultier will concentrate on his own ready-to-wear and haute couture collections.
It will be interesting to see what Hermès' future collections will look like with Lemaire as its artistic advisor.
What do you think of this change?

"Robert and I work closely with Coty on these projects, and he said, ‘Marc, you look so great now — you should be the model for men’s fragrance.’ My immediate reaction was, I don’t know. But then I came to see that it made sense ... Once I agreed to be the model, I couldn’t see what I would wear to express this. We tried it with clothes, but it didn’t work. Then Juergen [Teller, who shot the campaign] had the idea for the silver Mylar, and it all came together. The silver Mylar also gives it that flash, that bang ... As a word, it has so many connotations, including a sexual connotation.”
Lara Stone's Custom Givenchy wedding dress
When model Lara Stone, who's known for her curvy figure, got married to David Williams on May 16th, the only photos available of her custom-made Givenchy dress was taken from the waist up.
But, alas! A photo has now surfaced! And for your enjoyment, take a look at the gold sequined mini, also by Givenchy, that Ms. Stone wore to the reception.
I love fashion weddings!

Giles Deacon named new Creative Director at Emanuel Ungaro
Emanuel Ungaro confirmed today that British designer Giles Deacon will be its new creative director.
Deacon, who has been showing his own line in Paris for two seasons, will be replcaing Estrella Archs, the chief designer hired to work beside former artistic advisor, Lindsay Lohan.
The French fashion house has seen its fair share of designers since the retirement of its founder in 2004. However, Deacon feels confident about his new position.
“Yes, I’m totally aware and respectful of the pressure but at the same time, I’ve run my own business for eight years and worked in lots of places,” the 4o-year-old designer told WWD. “I think as soon as you start worrying and thinking about that too much, you’re not concentrating on doing good work, which is the most important thing."
Deacon will show his first collection in a presentation during Paris Fashion Week in October, and will most likely stay away from the runway for the first two seasons to get himself "into the spirit of the house."
He plans on incorporating his love for prints into Ungaro's collection.
“I obviously don’t want to infringe upon my own line, but I like things that are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design I’m going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman,” he said.
Deacon will continue to produce his own line, as well as working with British high street retailer, New Look.
Hopefully this will be the turning point for a more successful Ungaro!

Galliano to hit the big screen
John Galliano is set to play himself in a film based on the late Isabella Blow.
Legendary milliner, Philip Tracey, confirmed that the film is to go ahead while he attended Naomi Campbell's 40th birthday bash in Cannes.
Vogue's Andre Leon Talley blogged,
I caught Treacy, in an Alexander McQueen smoking with a black shawl collar spliced with gold lamé, to thank him for all those gorgeous Grace Jones hats. We had not hugged since Isabella Blow’s funeral three years ago, and he shared fabulous news: He has a producer to do a film on Isabella, and Galliano has already confirmed to play himself. Who will play Isabella? Treacy has a great trick up his hat, and it’s going to rock the world, but he cannot reveal it until this major new talent confirms.
Blow was best known for supporting the careers of both Treacy and the late Alexander McQueen. She committed suicide in May 2007 after a battle with depression and ovarian cancer.
