Anna Sui's Target lined may no longer be Gossip Girl-inspired
Say what?
Anna Sui's collection for Target, inspired by the female characters of Gossip Girl, may no longer be Gossip Girl themed.
“One of Target’s top executives got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the [debauchery] its characters get into,” said a source on set.
A GG insider told the NY Daily News that a party scene featuring Chuck and Blair was set to shoot at Sui's flagship store in SoHo last week, with models used as extras to wear Sui's Target collection.
“There was going to be signage, as well as Target symbols in purple and black — Anna’s signature colors,” said the source. “And it was rumored that Anna herself was going to be making a cameo appearance.”
Staff from Target even sent over boxes of clothing labeled with the name of each female character for the episode, but the store pulled out at the last second, leaving everyone on set furious.
“The crew was thrown into a frenzy because they had to scrap everything they had planned,” said the insider. “They can’t believe Target would bail on them, especially after publicly announcing the collaboration. It’s Target’s loss, because the line would have sold better if it had played a part in the show.”
The NY Daily News reports that Target would not comment and reps for Sui and the CW didn't respond to calls.
Nonetheless, the collection will still be available at Target stores beginning September 13th!
