Quote of the Day

"When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I'm inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, How awesome. Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn't a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture."
- Cindi Lauper on Lady Gaga as written in Time magazine.

H&M taps into its musical side

Fast-fashion retailer, H&M, is prepping fashionistas for Glastonbury, Roskilde and Benicassim, by launching its first collection for music festivalgoers.

“For me, festivals are unique and inspirational places as they join both music and fashion,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design. “To see your favorite bands, to see creative people gathered, all from different nations and with different looks, really inspires me.”

The collection is part of H&M's annual Fashion Against AIDS effort, and consists of 20 pieces for woman, 12 for men, and 20 accessories ranging from headphones to a leopard-print tent. The ad campaign, shot by Dan MÃ¥rtensen, features Lizzie Jagger and Lou Doillon with male model Josh Beech in a festival setting.

In line with the music festival theme, H&M is also holding a battle of the bands, and the winning band will get to perform live at the Fashion Against AIDS launch party in New York on May 19.

To enter, upload a video of your band playing to YouTube and submit your band name and the video link here. The top 10 finalists will be named on May 8.

The items from H&M's fesitval collection will go on sale on May 20, and a quarter of sales will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects.

Will you be buying any of the pieces?

Quote of the Day

"It's flattering, but it's weird. People have my haircut, my make-up, they literally look like a version of me. It's cool to be inspired by someone, but I think you've got to find a way to make it your own and not just copy."
- Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen on fans copying her style.

The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder, shows off this season's hot trend: the brightly coloured dress shirt, in the May 2010 issue of GQ.

In the mag, the hunky vamp talks about how he reacts to being accosted at the airport by fans.

"The decibel level at which a 13-year-old can explain how much she loves you—it’s the coolest thing ever.”

Definitely my favourite vampire!

Ke$ha does SNL

Ke$ha appeared on last week's Saturday Night Live, and performed "Tik Tok" and "Your Love Is My Drug."

Both performances were...well...a hot mess.

From the glow in the dark tribal body paint in "Your Love Is My Drug" to the astronauts and horrible dancing in "Tik Tok," Ke$ha failed to impress.

At least her hair looked clean.

What do you think of Ke$ha's performances?

Lady Gaga scribbles on her Birkin

Trust Lady Gaga to customize something so sacred as an Hermes Birkin bag.

The "Alejandro" singer wrote, “I love little monster, Tokyo love” in the Japanese alphabet Katakana while visiting Tokyo yesterday.

She later TwitPic-ed several other scribbles on the Birkin.

I wonder what Hermes thinks of this!

She's got the urge...for Herbal!

Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester has just been signed as the Global Ambassador for Herbal Essences in the U.S.

The 24-year-old, who is actually a natural blond, has been a fan of the brand for a while.

"My first memory is those iconic commercials back in the day," she told WWD. "My mom used it, too—the kind with the clear bottle with the flowers. Now it has a new look and everything is different. I started using it because Charles [Baker Strahan, Meester’s hairdresser] uses it and he [is Herbal Essences’ spokesperson]."

As Global Ambassador, Meester will appear in print ads, on the brand's website, and on their Facebook page.
